Chapter 9

Module 9 Summary

Chapter 9 was an interesting read since it went over businesses on the internet. From buying and selling items, covering some websites, and how subscriptions work. I think it’s amazing that in modern day we can do all our shopping online through places like Amazon, and most likely a physical shop will have an online store, meaning you have options to get it ordered to your house or at the store for pickup.

Some businesses rely on a subscription model to make revenue, like entertainment sites that offer games, music, movies, and books. Netflix is a good example of a business that does this. It’ll let you watch movies and shows for free but to access any of the content you’ll need to sign up for a subscription and pay each month for access.

Something interesting to note, there are security and privacy concerns since we have to give out sensitive information to these e-commerce sites, like identification and payment. We have to put trust in them to not abuse our information and hope their security will prevent a breach happening. It’s a sacrifice we take for convenience.
